THOMAS P. ENGLISH, 70, beloved father of Kayleigh and Luke English, former spouse of Amy English (nee Nash), died Thursday, October 21, 2021, peacefully at his home in Avon Lake, Ohio. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father, Thomas and Hilda (nee Yantschik) English, brother John English (Maureen), sister Patricia Frankovich (late Richard). He is survived by his sister, Darlene Takacs (late Bob). His memory will be cherished by his nieces and nephews Richie, Brian (Laura), Darlene (Richard), Matt (Gwen), Molly (Mathan), Traci (Jon), Eric, Sean, and Maura. Great Uncle to Colin, Oscar, Owen, Milo, Max, Viola, Maggy and Harrison.

Tom graduated a “track and baseball rockstar” from Cathedral Latin High School, received his BA from Cleveland State University, and joined the Asbestos Workers Union, Local 3, Cleveland, in 1974. Tom’s gypsy spirit loved to travel but he always called the shores of Lake Erie home. Not a day passed that he didn’t check what the stars had in store for his Gemini personality. He had an uncanny ability of “playing his numbers” on a hunch to hit the pick 3. Favorite past times included watching storms roll in, grilling the best food in any weather, sweet talking (or sneaking) into any event, and blaring his favorite music at max volume. He knew the best spots on the lake to watch a sunset and the best spices to add to any recipe. He’d tell everyone he was a die-hard Browns fan; a transplant recipient; and that he did not lose his full head of hair during chemo treatment. He was a warrior who fought through many storms of life, but above all – the Irishman who could bring life to any party and always be the last one standing. He will be remembered by most as “the funniest man I’d ever met.”

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 32929 Lake Rd, Avon Lake, Ohio, on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 12pm. All friends and family are welcomed to celebrate Tom’s life in the church reception hall immediately following the service. If you knew Tom, you knew he never had a plan – in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to his memorial via his daughter Kayleigh, who is planning all the arrangements. Donations can be sent via paypal or venmo by using phone number 740-621-1801.

Tommy so sorry I was not able to re-connect with you before you passed away. At various times I looked for you to no avail! I will always remember our great times in grade school. So happy you enjoyed life to the fullest. May you rest in peace and maybe we and all of us who hung out together will meet again. Blessings to you Tommy!
