Gary Frank Pinter passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 27 after an unexpected illness.

Gary is survived by his brother Larry Pinter, his children Laura and Phillip and their mother Anne, and his grandson Christian. He is predeceased by his parents William and Marina Pinter.

Born in Columbus in 1948, Gary was a life-long resident of Ohio. He attended part of his high school years in Italy while visiting family with his mother. One of his fondest memories was skipping school and taking the bus to Rome to visit the Colosseum. He graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in English.

He began his career at Westlake Cab where he made lasting friendships and then went on to newspaper reporting, working for the Cleveland Press, Plain Dealer, Elyria Chronicle Telegram, and other various magazines. He dedicated his last 22 years working at King James Condominiums and retired in June.

Gary was a devoted son, brother, father, and friend. He was a history and trivia buff, avid reader, and lover of books with thousands in his collection. He also enjoyed listening to jazz on 107.3 the Wave and classical music on 104.9 WCLV. On numerous occasions, he was asked to stop calling into the radio station because he had won their trivia contests too frequently.

Gary spent his free time having coffee with friends and visiting his son and daughter. He was a spiritual man and read the Bible. He was happiest in nature, walking in the Cleveland Metroparks, riding his bike, sitting by the water, or throwing the football with his son.
